Thursday, August 10, meet at the Wild Animal Sanctuary at 9 a.m. | Wild Animal Sanctuary, 2999 County Road 53, Keenesburg, CO 80643
The Wild Animal Sanctuary houses over 450 lions, tigers, bears, wolves and other rescued and rehabilitated animals roaming freely in large acreage habitats. The animals have been rescued from abusive situations across the globe. This is not like a zoo. Visitors use a walkway 20-feet above ground – the longest footbridge in the world – to watch the animals in their habitats without disturbing them. Learn more
The walkway is approximately 1.5 miles one way. Electric scooters and wheelchairs are available to rent for $5. (It is recommended to reserve these in advance.) Admission is free for those over 70; the cost is $30 for those under 70. Financial assistance is available by contacting Willa or Tom Kampman. They will ask for a donation to help care for these magnificent animals. Carpooling is recommended, but not a must. Bring your binoculars and cameras!
We will then have lunch at The Pepper Pot in nearby Hudson around 12 p.m.
RSVP with Willa and Tom Kampman, 303-425-0447.
